Own the load-bearing distributed core of a local-first platform: the data model as convergent state (CRDTs), the append-only operation log, the hybrid logical clock, the hubedge sync / anti-entropy protocol, the merge logic, and the edge node as a true local replica. The system operates while disconnected and reconciles on reconnect, no human resolving conflicts. This seat needs someone who has built systems like this before.
SkillsMust demonstrate
- Consistency models — strong / causal / eventual; CAP / PACELC tradeoffs
- CRDTs — implemented from first principles, reasoning about convergence
- Causality — logical, vector, and hybrid logical clocks; conflict resolution
- Event sourcing and append-only operation-log design
- Sync / anti-entropy / replication protocols, built end to end
- Offline-first / local-first architecture — state that runs and converges while disconnected
- Evidence of having built one of: a sync engine, a collaborative-editing system, an offline-first app that reconciles, a replicated datastore, or a database
- Speaks fluently about eventual / causal consistency and CAP / PACELC
- Familiar with Automerge, Yjs, ElectricSQL, or similar; ex-database or collaborative-software
- Senior — has owned a hard consistency problem end to end
- Public CRDT / sync / distributed code to review
