Key Responsibilities 1. Advanced Troubleshooting & Fault Isolation
  • Perform deep-dive technical troubleshooting for transmission network issues
  • Analyze faults related to:
  • SDH / DWDM / OTN / Microwave links
  • Fiber breaks and path failures
  • Network synchronization issues
  • Repeated or intermittent link failures
  • Validate service impact and identify probable root cause
  • Perform remote diagnostics and restoration support through EMS/NMS tools
2. Incident Resolution & Service Restoration
  • Take ownership of high-priority and complex incidents escalated by L1
  • Drive restoration activities within defined SLA/MTTR targets
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams such as:
  • Fiber operations
  • Field operations
  • Power team
  • Access/backhaul teams
  • IP/MPLS team
  • Lead technical bridge calls during major incidents
3. Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Conduct detailed RCA for major/repeat incidents
  • Identify whether the issue is due to:
  • Fiber cut
  • Configuration mismatch
  • Power failure
  • External dependency or recurring instability
  • Publish RCA inputs with corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
4. Change & Planned Activity Support
  • Review, validate, and support planned changes in transmission network
  • Assess impact of maintenance activities such as:
  • Device replacement
  • Card replacement
  • Ring reconfiguration
  • Path rerouting
  • Software/firmware upgrades
  • Provide implementation support and post-change validation
  • Ensure rollback readiness and risk mitigation during planned activities
5. Performance & Stability Management
  • Analyze chronic issues and recurring faults
  • Review transmission performance indicators such as:
  • Link stability
  • Error trends
  • Optical power levels
  • Latency or path-related degradation
  • Repeat outage patterns
  • Recommend preventive actions to improve network reliability
  • Coordinate with OEMs/vendors for hardware/software-related incidents
  • Track vendor cases for RMA, TAC support, and patch recommendations
  • Escalate severe issues to higher technical support teams where required
  • Ensure closure of vendor dependencies within expected timelines
6. Documentation & Knowledge Management
  • Prepare incident RCA, technical summaries, and outage reports
  • Create and update SOPs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge documents
  • Conduct technical mentoring and support for L1 teams
  • Share lessons learned from major incidents and recurring problem areas
7. Operational Governance
  • Support major incident review meetings and problem management forums
  • Ensure adherence to SLA, MTTR, and incident process standards
  • Review queue quality, ticket accuracy, and escalation effectiveness of L1 teams
  • Drive continuous improvement opportunities in monitoring and restoration processes
Required Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of telecom transmission technologies:
  • SDH
  • DWDM / OTN
  • Microwave transmission
  • Fiber transport
  • Ethernet backhaul
  • MPLS transport basics
  • Strong knowledge of transmission faults, path switching, and topology concepts
  • Hands-on experience in alarm/event analysis through EMS/NMS tools
  • Ability to analyze:
  • Cross-connect or routing dependencies in transport layer
  • Understanding of service impact analysis and restoration planning
  • Exposure to OEM platforms (example: Huawei, Nokia, Ericsson, Ciena, Tejas, NEC, Ceragon, etc.) is preferred
