Job Description
The Cloud Consultant is responsible for the end-to-end management, administration, and continuous optimization of the organization's enterprise virtualization and cloud infrastructure - spanning VMware, Hyper‑V, and Microsoft Azure - in support of multiple government entities hosted at the MCIT Datacenter in Qatar. This role owns the reliable, secure, and compliant operation of an environment of 1,500+ servers; leads the onboarding of new government entities onto datacenter infrastructure;
and drives the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of infrastructure and cloud solutions, including hybrid cloud, backup and disaster recovery, and next‑generation container‑based technologies. The role acts as a technical authority on datacenter and cloud infrastructure, balancing operational stability with the adoption of new technologies to meet evolving government business requirements.
- Manage and administer enterprise virtualization platforms and Azure Cloud infrastructure supporting multiple government organizations in Qatar.
- Manage and administer 1,500+ servers across VMware, Hyper‑V, and Azure Cloud environments within Qatar datacenters, ensuring high availability, performance, and stability.
- Plan and execute hypervisor upgrades and the lifecycle management of underlying server hardware.
- Coordinate the installation of servers and supporting hardware within the Data Center, liaising with vendors, facilities, and internal technical teams.
- Onboard government entities to the MCIT Datacenter in accordance with agreed procedures, standards, and project timelines.
- Create and review design documents related to IT infrastructure and Azure Cloud architecture, ensuring alignment with best practices and business requirements.
- Deploy cloud solutions - including proof‑of‑concept (POC) and production environments - using Microsoft and VMware technologies.
- Deploy Azure components and services in line with specific business and application requirements.
- Maintain and operate workloads migrated to Azure Cloud, ensuring ongoing performance, availability, and cost‑efficiency.
- Deploy SaaS and PaaS solutions as required by application teams, ensuring proper integration with existing infrastructure.
- Enforce security and compliance standards across servers and applications, in line with organizational and government policy.
- Maintain Data Center infrastructure security in accordance with recommended industry and regulatory guidelines.
- Plan and execute backup strategies across the server, application, and database layers to safeguard business continuity.
- Design and deploy VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) and Site Recovery Manager (SRM) to support performance monitoring and disaster recovery.
- Perform application proof‑of‑conceptions (POCs) to evaluate and adopt next‑generation container‑based technologies, including Kubernetes and Red Hat Open Shift.
- Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Accreditations :
Azure Solutions Architect Expert, other Azure, GCP, OCI cloud certifications.
- At least 8 years related IT experience with a majority in Cloud environments.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and securing cloud solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of Azure cloud services and related technologies.
- Strong background in Linux and Containers.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in working in a senior technical support capacity (L3).
