Position Summary:
Linnk Group is seeking an experienced, highly technical, and accomplished Senior Oracle Solaris Engineer with 5+ years of production-grade Solaris administration and enterprise SPARC infrastructure experience to join our client engagement team on a 12-month extendable contract basis in Doha, Qatar. In this specialized enterprise systems engineering role, you will spearhead administering, optimizing, and securing mission-critical Oracle Solaris environments, SPARC hardware platforms, LDoms, Solaris zones, and high-availability clustering solutions.
You will work closely with enterprise IT infrastructure teams, back-office telecommunications and banking stakeholders, and database administrators to ensure uncompromising server reliability, high availability, and performance. Ideal candidates bring a robust academic degree in computer science or IT, mandatory Oracle Solaris OCA/OCP certifications alongside Linux credentials, and immediate availability for deployment in Qatar.
Job Description:
As a Senior Oracle Solaris Engineer at Linnk Group in Doha, Qatar, you will take full ownership of enterprise UNIX systems administration, SPARC server lifecycle management, SRU patching, cluster fault tolerance, and secure back-office infrastructure support. Your day-to-day responsibilities encompass provisioning and configuring Solaris Zones and Kernel Zones, managing Logical Domains (LDoms) and ILOM, executing SRU patches via IPS, administering ZFS file systems, and ensuring seamless Oracle Database backend support.
You will collaborate proactively with cross-functional IT operations squads to resolve complex kernel anomalies, execute performance tuning, and maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation. Working in a fast-paced technology consulting environment in Qatar, you will drive operational excellence, system security, and high-availability uptime.
- Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise Oracle Solaris 10, 11.3, and 11.4 operating system environments.
- Manage SPARC T-Series and M-Series hardware infrastructure, Logical Domains (LDoms), and Integrated Lights Out Manager (ILOM).
- Deploy, manage, and secure Solaris Zones, Kernel Zones, and advanced ZFS file system storage pools.
- Administer Service Management Facility (SMF) services and Image Packaging System (IPS) repositories and software updates.
- Implement and support high-availability clusters utilizing Oracle Solaris Cluster or Veritas Info Scale replication frameworks.
- Provide robust operational support for enterprise Oracle Database instances running on Solaris infrastructure.
- Execute Support Repository Update (SRU) patching, kernel tuning, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate proactively with telecommunications and banking back-office IT teams, database administrators, and security squads in Doha.
- Monitor server performance, analyze system resource utilization, troubleshoot kernel panics, and resolve hardware faults.
- Maintain comprehensive infrastructure documentation, disaster recovery runbooks, and server configuration inventories.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of production-grade Oracle Solaris administration experience in enterprise data center environments.
- Strong hands-on operational experience with SPARC hardware architectures, LDoms, and ILOM management.
- Expert technical proficiency in Solaris Zones, Kernel Zones, ZFS storage administration, SMF, and IPS package management.
- Solid experience with high-availability clustering technologies (Oracle Solaris Cluster or Veritas Info Scale).
