About the role:Designated accountable senior manager in charge of airport operations on a day-to‑day basis, on behalf of the MATAR Senior Management (COO, SVPs). This role ensures HIA and DIA operate in compliance with all regulatory requirements and established policies and procedures while maintaining all agreed levels of service and quality. The manager coordinates emergency procedures during major incidents, acts as the designated Senior Airport Authority representative during non‑office hours, and holds the authority to restrict or cease operations at key facilities affecting safety and security.
Accountabilities:- Lead a multi‑discipline team on shift to deliver excellence in safety, security, quality and customer service at Hamad International Airport.
- Act as key liaison for state authorities to represent MATAR during shift.
- Ensure all customers, third parties and agencies are kept informed of relevant operational information.
- Provide direction and advice to all airport users for smooth operations.
- Collaborate with all airside and landside sections and plans, ensuring staff and equipment are allocated efficiently.
- Critically examine all aspects of airport operation to identify improvements that can positively affect the Airport Service Quality ratings (ASQ).
- Coordinate with customer airlines to ensure their unique requirements are satisfied.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with station managers and staff.
- Provide accurate executive briefs to senior management via shift reports and verbal reports during significant events.
- Accountable for the performance of the Airport Operations Control Centre, ensuring KLPls and SLAs are maintained.
- Respond to accidents and incidents as outlined in the Airport Emergency Plan, coordinate investigations, and provide detailed reports with recommendations.
- Manage and instigate business continuity procedures in case of infrastructure failures to minimize disruption.
- Participate in aircraft, vehicle incidents and accident investigations, recommending and implementing corrective measures.
- Perform departmental duties as directed by the Head of Department.
- Provide creative solutions to extraordinary problems and challenges to maintain operational excellence.
- Promote industry best practices to ensure a safe operating environment for staff and customers.
- Represent HIA interests in group operational meetings.
- Manage overall HIA operations during shift and deputize the line manager.
About you:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with a minimum of 10 years of related experience.
Preferred:
- Experience in a senior management role, process reengineering, solution design, project management and change management, with demonstrated leadership and motivation skills.
- Significant experience in a commercial management team and all airport operational areas.
- Aerodrome Control Centre experience preferred.
- Middle East experience preferred.
- Preferably attended aerodrome safety management courses and relevant ICAO/ACI/IATA training; hub control experience preferred.
- Comprehensive experience in airside/terminal operations and resource planning.
- Excellent knowledge of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs).
- Excellent knowledge of aerodrome emergency procedures.
