Job SummaryThe Commercial Manager provides commercial management support to the project commercial team and through this, ensures commercial interests are optimized for the business. The role implements and utilizes company processes and procedures, provides upstream comments on improvement opportunities, communicates and negotiates with clients or other business associates to develop exploitable opportunities.
Job Responsibilities- Create and implement strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting and administration of contracts to ensure favourable terms and compliance.
- Manage budgets, conduct financial analysis and monitor financial performance to ensure cost control and profitability.
- Conduct market research and analysis to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities and customer needs.
- Identify, assess and mitigate commercial risks associated with contracts and business operations.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of commercial strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders to foster long‑term partnerships.
- Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bids and proposals to secure new business opportunities.
- Ensure all commercial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations and organisational policies.
- Lead and mentor a team of commercial professionals, promoting a high‑performance culture and continuous professional development.
- Support the implementation of HSE initiatives, participate in safety awareness activities and contribute to incident reporting and resolution in alignment with company and IMS policies.
In-depth knowledge of construction contractual matters and quantity surveying methods, techniques and tools for contracting. Possess an excellent understanding of commercial and financial matters. Demonstrable knowledge in negotiating, reviewing documents and administrative accountability. Advanced knowledge in the use of MS Windows applications (Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other tools related to project activities. Knowledge of commercial and cost management packages such as CCS (Candy) will be a distinct advantage.
ERP knowledge – preferably SAP functional skills – are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Minimum 8 years working experience, 5 years in a relevant supervisory position, 2 years GCC experience is a plus.
CompetenciesAgility, Resilience, Quality, Leadership, Contract Monitoring, Contract Management, Contract Negotiating, Contract Administration, Contracts Database, Build High‑Performing Teams, Provide Direction, Education, Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or any related field, Professional Qualification in FIDIC, Certification or Chartered membership of a professional organisation such as CIOB or RICS.
