Job Summary
The Hydrotest Technician is responsible for performing hydrostatic and pneumatic testing on pipelines, vessels, tanks, and pressure equipment to ensure system integrity, detect leaks, and verify compliance with project and safety standards. The role requires strict adherence to safety protocols and accurate documentation of test results.
Responsibilities- Prepare and set up equipment for hydrostatic and pneumatic testing of pipelines, vessels, and pressure systems.
- Conduct pre-test inspections to ensure systems are ready for testing and all safety precautions are in place.
- Perform hydrotest procedures according to project specifications, codes, and standards.
- Monitor pressure, temperature, and flow during testing to detect leaks, weaknesses, or abnormalities.
- Isolate and relieve pressure safely after test completion.
- Record and report test results, including any discrepancies or failures, to supervisors or engineers.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of testing equipment.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations during all testing activities.
- Collaborate with project engineers, supervisors, and HSE personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma in Mechanical, Instrumentation, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in hydrotesting, pressure testing, or mechanical fieldwork is preferred.
- Knowledge of hydrotest procedures, standards, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit to handle equipment, hoses, and heavy work in industrial environments.
- Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic testing equipment.
- Understanding of pressure measurement instruments and data logging.
- Teamwork, communication, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Ability to work in potentially hazardous conditions following strict safety guidelines.
