Role Purpose

Lead and coordinate timekeeping operations for motor sport events, ensuring accurate timing, reliable system operation, verification of official results, and compliance with applicable sporting regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, test and monitor primary and backup electronic timing systems, including timing loops, decoders, transponders and associated equipment.
  • Lead timekeeping personnel and coordinate timing activities across practice, qualifying and race sessions.
  • Monitor live timing data and troubleshoot timing-system or connectivity issues during event operations.
  • Verify official times, session results, penalties and championship standings before publication.
  • Coordinate closely with Race Control, Clerk of the Course, Race Director and other sporting officials.
  • Prepare timing systems and infrastructure according to championship/event requirements and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate timing records, reports and system documentation.

What are we looking for

  • 4–7 years of relevant work experience in motor sport timekeeping, including hands‑on experience with electronic timing systems and race/event operations, preferably in a Chief/Senior Timekeeper capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of professional timing systems such as MYLAPS, Alkamel or equivalent motor sport timing platforms.
  • Experience with transponders, timing loops, decoders, networking and timing-system troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of motor sport sporting regulations, race procedures and official results management.
  • High level of accuracy and ability to perform under time-critical event conditions.
  • Previous experience supporting international motor sport championships/events is highly desirable.

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant professional training/certification in motor sport timekeeping or electronic timing systems is an advantage.
