Position: Senior QA/QC Inspector (Advance NDT)

SENIOR QA/QC INSPECTOR (ADVANCE NDT)

Interpret the suitability of products and processes against the designated specification requirements at scheduled and ad‑hoc intervals. The role is primarily responsible for reporting using advanced NDT techniques, accurate defect detection, characterization, and supporting a safe and reliable project execution.

Reports to Head - Projects QA/QC or delegate for technical matters, and liaises with internal PMD construction and execution teams, operation and discipline engineers, as well as external EPC contractors, NDT contractors, and third‑party inspection agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and verify PAUT/TOFD scan plans, scanning coverage, calibration setup, sensitivity, reporting basis, and technique applicability against governing codes, project specifications, and inspection scope.
  • Perform technical oversight of PAUT applications on carbon steel welds and dissimilar/clad weld configurations, including verification of scan strategy, beam coverage, calibration approach, and examination limitations associated with clad or weld overlay surfaces.
  • Technically evaluate and validate indication detection, characterization, and sizing results generated through advanced NDT methods; assess compliance against applicable acceptance criteria and support other NDT techniques.
  • Provide inspection‑related recommendations on applicable project activities.
  • Maintain close working relationships with assigned inspection personnel to ensure full awareness of roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with multiple stakeholders while maintaining inspection integrity and independence; advise internal user departments on quality and inspection related issues and monitor adherence.
  • Regularly meet with QA/QC Engineer to discuss ongoing projects and work priorities.
  • Engage with external contractors to perform PAUT/TOFD and advanced NDT techniques, including defect sizing and characterization.
  • Review and technically assess contractor‑issued NDT reports, interpretation records, images, and supporting inspection data to confirm adequacy, traceability, and compliance prior to acceptance.
  • Review and verify NDT procedures, technique sheets, personnel certifications, calibration records, equipment validity, and qualification records prior to inspection activities.
  • Ensure full traceability between weld maps, line/component identification, NDT reports, repair history, final inspection status, and supporting quality records.
  • Interpret advanced NDT data and evaluate indications against applicable acceptance criteria (ASME, API, project specs.) and prepare accurate inspection reports with supporting data/images.
  • Maintain professional relationships with contractors and applicable third‑party organisations.
  • Monitor quality of works in progress at site and at the EPC contractor fabrication workshop against applicable NDT procedures and company technical specifications.
  • Verify NDT calibration blocks, reference standards, and equipment validity.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date project quality documentation and ensure records of product and process conformance are maintained per document and record control requirements.
  • Prepare daily reports summarising salient inspection points and quality concerns; coordinate with quality focal point on significant issues.
  • Manage and participate in site quality verification activities (e.g., quality walk‑about and procurement surveillance) and document results using applicable inspection report templates.
  • Facilitate follow‑up of product‑related non‑conformance results.
  • Prepare and present topics during the annual quality training program and discipline‑specific training material as requested.
  • Act as the 'eyes and ears' of the project management team to ensure company quality requirements and expectations are fully satisfied.
Person Specification

Minimum Requirements Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering – Mechanical / Metallurgy or equivalent.
  • NDT certificate in ASNT/PCN Level III for methods in UT, RT, PAUT and TOFD (minimum).
  • NDT certificate in ASNT/PCN Level II for methods MT and PT (minimum).
  • CSWIP 3.1 certification and NDT Certificate in ECT preferred.
