QC Inspector (Electrical) – Qatar
Airswift is seeking a QC Inspector (Electrical) to work in Qatar with a major Oil & Gas Company.
Qualifications- Degree and/or Diploma in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
- Experience in Quality Control within multi‑discipline construction and commissioning environments.
- Formal training in Quality Control and membership in a recognized chartered or professional institution is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar position; GCC experience is desirable.
- Sound working knowledge of QC requirements and testing activities related to the installation, testing, and commissioning of Electrical and Instrumentation equipment in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical plants.
- Ability to work effectively with contractor personnel and colleagues at all levels within multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
- Knowledge of international codes, standards, and regulations such as QCS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70, and other applicable standards.
- Implement the elements of the company's Management System applicable to the function.
- Ensure personal safety and the safety of others who may be affected by project activities and proactively participate in all safety matters related to project execution.
- Promote environmental protection and pollution prevention throughout project activities.
- Coordinate inspection and testing requirements on behalf of the client/project.
- Review and familiarize with project and discipline‑specific inspection documentation to ensure understanding and compliance with contract requirements.
- Maintain familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulations such as QCS, NEC, IEC, IEEE, NFPA 70, and other applicable standards.
- Implement quality inspection procedures for construction activities, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Ensure all documentation generated from inspections, tests, surveillance activities, and surveys meets the requirements of the Project Quality Plan, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and project specifications.
- Complete relevant inspection forms and prepare reports for inclusion in project quality records.
- Communicate effectively with contractors, third parties, and end users.
- Ensure all measuring and testing equipment is calibrated and calibration records maintained.
- Assist construction personnel in developing quality documentation, including method statements, work procedures, ITPs, and inspection/test records.
- Assist in identifying actual or potential non‑conformances and support the development of corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform and monitor technical inspections during Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) for major electrical components such as:
- Power, Distribution, and Measurement Transformers (MV and LV Switchgear)
- Power, Telecommunication, and Instrumentation Cables
- MCCBs, PLC Systems, MCC and LCC Panels
- Liaise with field supervisors and contractors to ensure electrical and instrumentation testing activities are properly planned and executed.
- Implement Quality Control activities for electrical and instrumentation works on site.
- Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and Requests for Inspection (RFI).
- Conduct material receiving inspections.
- Verify that electrical and instrumentation equipment installations comply with approved drawings and specifications, including review of red‑line markups.
- Possess experience in HV/LV cable installation standards, punch list preparation, commissioning of electrical equipment, and loop checking activities.
- Assist the Quality Engineer in reviewing routine test reports, quality documentation, and inspection records for compliance.
- Monitor contractor activities related to electrical and instrumentation works, including:
- Substation grounding system installations
- Ground resistance measurements
- Soil resistivity testing
- Step voltage measurements
- Material receiving inspections
- Ensure all electrical and instrumentation activities are performed in accordance with project requirements and that all testing records and reports are properly prepared, approved, and included in project documentation packages.
- Witness site and laboratory tests related to electrical and instrumentation activities.
- Verify that materials and equipment are used in accordance with approved specifications.
- Conduct random checks on receiving inspections of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Verify delivery documents against purchase orders, specifications, and material certificates.
- Reject materials that do not meet specifications or are not supported by authentic material certification.
- Follow up corrective actions and monitor the closure of non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
- Monitor trends related to contractor non‑compliance and provide feedback regarding contractor performance.
- Initiate surveillance reports and NCRs for Quality Engineer review and approval.
