Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Refractory Engineer to oversee the inspection, testing, and quality assurance of refractory-lined equipment in oil & gas facilities. The role involves ensuring compliance with API and international standards, supporting installation and commissioning activities, investigating refractory failures, and maintaining the integrity and reliability of critical assets.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform inspection and testing of refractory-lined equipment during fabrication, installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with API 936 and applicable international codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Conduct QA/QC activities, including material verification, installation monitoring, and documentation review.
  • Investigate refractory failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Evaluate refractory material selection based on operating conditions and service requirements.
  • Provide on-site technical support during refractory installation, dry-out, commissioning, and unit start-up activities.
  • Prepare inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and technical recommendations.
  • Coordinate with contractors, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality and project objectives are achieved.
  • API 510 and/or API 570 certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with international inspection standards, industry best practices, and refinery/petrochemical processes.
Mandatory Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in refractory inspection and testing within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • API 936 Certification (Mandatory).
  • Strong knowledge of refractory-lined equipment, inspection techniques, and QA/QC practices.
  • Proven experience with refractory failure investigations and damage mechanism analysis.
  • Experience in providing field support during installation and subsequent unit start-up activities.
  • Excellent English communication and technical reporting skills.
