Quality Control Microbiologist
Perform microbiological analysis of raw materials in-process samples and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and safety regulations Conduct regular inspections and tests to ensure products are free from harmful microorganisms e g bacteria molds yeasts pathogens Perform sterility tests on production equipment packaging materials and the environment including air surfaces and water to prevent contamination Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of current quality control processes making recommendations for improvement where necessary Ensure compliance with local and international food safety regulations e g FDA USDA ISO HACCP AOAC CCFRA BAM and implement proper corrective actions when deviations occur Maintain accurate records of test results findings and actions taken Prepare reports on microbiological findings for management and regulatory bodies Investigate the root causes of microbiological contamination issues and assist in developing corrective actions to mitigate recurrence Work closely with production R D and other departments to maintain food safety standards and improve production processes Provide guidance and training to production staff and new team members on microbiological testing procedures sanitation practices and food safety protocols Ensure team adherence to food safety and quality standards Conduct regular food safety briefings and reinforce a strong food safety culture Monitor compliance with hygiene and operational procedures
Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) are a plus.
Proficiency in laboratory techniques, microbiological analysis, and familiarity with laboratory equipment.
Knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and FDA/USDA guidelines.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in testing and data recording.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot microbiological issues effectively.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the achievement of company goals.
Ability to work in a laboratory and manufacturing environment, which may involve standing, walking, and the use of protective equipment.
