Role Description

This opportunity supports major oil and gas construction and commissioning activities, with responsibility for electrical QA/QC oversight across complex process plant environments. The role focuses on quality management, inspection and testing, compliance auditing, and technical assurance for electrical equipment and systems up to 220kV. This position offers exposure to both site-based and supplier or subcontractor activities, with a strong emphasis on quality surveillance, documentation control, and multidisciplinary coordination.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from a recognised university

Experience

Required Experience:

15 years of experience in the construction of major greenfield or brownfield process plants within the oil and gas industry, including refinery, NGL/LNG plants, petrochemical complexes, or similar environments. Previous experience with major EPIC contractors or end users in a similar position, with overall responsibility for the quality of electrical construction and commissioning activities on major projects. Hands‑on experience in preparation, review, and approval of Quality Plans, ITPs, QCPs, MARs, and inspection or testing activities during field erection, installation, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning.

Experience managing teams of discipline inspectors, coordinating inspection and testing activities, and establishing and monitoring KPIs within the electrical discipline. Experience in development or implementation of quality surveillance programmes, completion management systems, inspection and test records, technical integrity verification, flawless project delivery, and project quality health check programmes. Experience conducting pre‑qualification, quality management system, quality compliance, and technical compliance audits, including quality walk‑throughs of project activities and contractor organisations.

Skills

Required Skills:

Strong working knowledge of QA/QC principles, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria for a wide range of electrical equipment and systems up to 220kV. Good knowledge and practical application of international codes, standards, and practices including QCS, IEC, IEEE, BS, ISO, UL, IOGP, and Shell DEPs relevant to the function. Technical knowledge covering EHV/HV/LV cables, HV/LV motors, MCCs, VSDs, DBs, EDGs, NERs, transformers, capacitors, CP systems, heat tracing, lighting, switch gear, and panels.

Ability to support review and approval of QA/QC documents in line with the construction programme and ensure implementation of project quality requirements at site and supplier or subcontractor locations. Capability to identify non‑conformances, drive corrective and preventive actions, and coordinate close‑out of NCRs and root cause analysis activities. Experience monitoring material test certificates, construction records, preservation management systems, IMTE registers, calibration records, and inspection and test status databases.

Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly with contractor, third‑party, end user, and project personnel across multidisciplinary and multicultural environments. Ability to resolve complex QA/QC issues and differing interpretations of technical requirements and scope across multiple project stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

Qualification from IECEx-CoPC, Comp Ex, or a similar international certification scheme. Membership or certification from internationally recognised institutions such as ASQ CMQ/OE, MCQI-CQP, or similar.
