Position: Research Associate I

Job Overview

The Department of Biological Sciences at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU‑Q) seeks a highly motivated Research Associate to support research programs across two laboratories. The position involves experimental work, data analysis, laboratory management, and scholarly communication.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct experiments on the role of minor intron splicing in breast cancer (Younis Lab).
  • Set up and optimize new techniques, including immunofluorescence and colony formation assays (Younis Lab).
  • Design and perform required experiments and techniques in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, and biochemistry (Younis Lab).
  • Analyze data and supervise other researchers (Younis Lab).
  • Assist in writing reports and manuscripts (Younis Lab).
  • Set up next‑generation sequencing experiments (RNA‑Seq) and analyze RNA‑seq results (Younis Lab).
  • Work on the project investigating PARP inhibition in colorectal cancer cell lines and combinatorial approaches to improve sensitivity (Naik Lab).
  • Conduct mammalian cell culture, molecular biology techniques, functional assays, data analysis, and laboratory management (Naik Lab).
  • Mentor undergraduate researchers, maintain laboratory records, write manuscripts, and support collaborative research projects (Naik Lab).
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or related field.
  • Prior experience with cell culture, cancer biology, and laboratory research.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and data analysis.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
