QABY Biotech is a biotechnology company based in Doha, Qatar, focused on transforming the diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases through precision medicine. The company’s proprietary platform combines highly sensitive immunoassays for detecting disease-associated α-synuclein aggregates with therapeutic nanobodies that neutralize toxic protein forms. This dual approach creates near-term revenue opportunities from advanced diagnostics and long-term growth potential from a novel therapeutic pipeline.
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our team in Doha and contribute to the development, optimization, and validation of QABY’s antibody, nanobody, and immunoassay platforms.
The successful candidate will be involved in experimental design, hands‑on laboratory work, assay development, data analysis, and scientific reporting across both diagnostic and therapeutic programs. The role will support the development of immunoassays for detecting disease-associated α-synuclein species, as well as preclinical research related to antibody- and nanobody-based therapeutic candidates.
Depending on experience, the candidate may also contribute to project planning, troubleshooting, supervision of junior team members, external collaborations, scientific presentations, publications, patent‑related documentation, and grant or investor‑facing materials.
Key responsibilities- Design, perform, optimize, and troubleshoot laboratory experiments related to antibody/nanobody platforms and α-synuclein biology.
- Develop and validate immunoassays, including ELISA, MSD, multiplex platforms, seed amplification assays, or other high‑sensitivity biomarker assays.
- Support characterization of antibodies, nanobodies, protein aggregates, and disease-associated α-synuclein species.
- Contribute to preclinical research activities for antibody- and nanobody‑based therapeutic candidates.
- Analyze and interpret complex experimental datasets using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
- Prepare clear scientific reports, presentations, protocols, and documentation.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to SOPs, quality standards, and safe laboratory practice.
- Work collaboratively with internal team members and external academic, clinical, and industry partners.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory workflows, assay performance, and platform technologies.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A PhD, MSc, or equivalent experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, neuroscience, biotechnology, or a related discipline.
- Experience in assay development and validation, particularly immunoassays such as ELISA, MSD, multiplex assays, seed amplification assays, or quantitative biomarker platforms.
- Strong hands‑on experience in molecular, cellular, biochemical, or protein‑based techniques.
- Experience with antibody or nanobody discovery, engineering, screening, characterization, or biologics development would be highly desirable.
- Familiarity with neurodegeneration, protein misfolding, α-synuclein biology, Parkinson’s disease, Lewy body dementia, or multiple system atrophy would be an advantage.
- Ability to design hypothesis‑driven experiments, troubleshoot effectively, and interpret data rigorously.
- Strong scientific writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a small, collaborative, fast‑moving team.
- Experience in biotech, pharma, translational research, or preclinical therapeutic development would be an advantage.
This is an opportunity to join an ambitious biotech company at an exciting stage of growth and contribute directly to the development of innovative diagnostic and therapeutic platforms for neurodegenerative diseases.
You will work across both drug development and diagnostics
, helping to shape a precision medicine platform with potential impact across multiple synucleinopathies.
