Key Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will be expected to contribute to the following activities:

  • Synthesis and optimization of metal nanoparticles, including preparation of formulations and optimization of experimental conditions.
  • Physicochemical characterization of nanoparticles using techniques such as:
  • UV-Visible spectroscopy
  • Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) and particle size analysis
  • Zeta potential measurements, where applicable
  • Electron microscopy for nanoparticle morphology and size characterization
  • Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) spectroscopy
  • Mammalian cell culture, including routine maintenance, passaging, cell counting, and preparation of cells for experiments.
  • Assessment of nanoparticle cytotoxicity and cellular responses.
  • Performance and optimization of MTT and related cell-viability assays.
  • Conduct flow cytometry experiments and assist with data acquisition and analysis.
  • Perform Western blotting, including sample preparation, protein quantification, electrophoresis, transfer, immunodetection, and analysis.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, experimental records, and research data.
  • Analyze experimental results and assist with the preparation of figures, reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Follow established laboratory biosafety, chemical safety, and quality-control procedures.
  • Assist with other research activities related to the project as required.
Preferred Qualifications And Experience

Applicants should preferably have a background in biological sciences, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, nanotechnology, materials science, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline.

Hands-on laboratory experience in several of the following areas is highly desirable: metal nanoparticle synthesis, nanoparticle characterization, mammalian cell culture, cytotoxicity assays, MTT assays, flow cytometry, Western blotting, UV-Visible spectroscopy, DLS, electron microscopy, and SPR spectroscopy.

The ideal candidate should be organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
