Role SummaryWe are looking for a Category Manager – F&V to join the team in Qatar and focus on growing our own Grocery Store “tMart”, the region’s first cloud store concept offering 30‑minute delivery of groceries at hypermarket prices. The service has expanded rapidly across Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman and Iraq.
Responsibilities- Full ownership over the category management role in terms of Assortments, Pricing, Offers and Supply.
- Monitor economic performance of assigned departments/categories across sales, gross margin, profit & loss and consistency with the company’s commercial strategy.
- Ensure proper implementation of the commercial strategy and strategic guidelines, including category plans and pricing strategy.
- Provide input to the Ops team on flows, adjacencies, tools, templates, fixtures, etc.
- Review and resolve any issues with local suppliers.
- Assortment: ensure cost efficiency across consumers, define and maintain local assortment, integrate basic assortment for each department/category, and provide regional teams with product and quantity information for international and regional contracts.
- Select local suppliers, negotiate and purchase in line with expected needs guided by standards such as cost price, rebates, payment terms and discounts.
- Pricing: set item prices based on pricing guidelines and recommended prices for PL/Imported items, collect market prices, and conduct country price audits.
- Promos: identify local promo products, price each item, forecast and supply reordering information to replenishment, develop the country promotion calendar, follow up and ensure effective execution of promotional events, and analyze inputs for more effective promotional activities such as consumer preferences, local competitors and trends.
- Minimum 4 to 5 years of experience in Fresh Fruit & Vegetables (F&V) within the Qatar retail market.
- Proven track record of managing multiple product categories in a large retail or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive category growth through assortment optimisation, innovation and seasonal planning, including identifying new product opportunities and emerging consumer trends.
- Strong capability to analyse market trends, customer buying behaviour and competitor activities to ensure competitive pricing within the Qatar market.
- Experience monitoring supplier performance based on quality, service levels, pricing and delivery, and the ability to review, negotiate and resolve issues with local suppliers directly.
- Experience building teams and leading cross‑functional projects at scale.
- Detail‑oriented, structured, prioritises work, delivers solutions and is willing to perform any necessary tasks, including working on the warehouse floor, making customer deliveries or taking customer calls.
- Ability to interact with senior‑level executives and manage expectations of multiple stakeholders.
- Energetic, constantly learning, with excellent analytical and communication skills and a hands‑on approach to tools and data.
- Robust interpersonal and intercultural skills, able to inspire teams and stakeholders to rally behind a mission.
- Fluent English and Arabic would be highly advantageous.
