Sr. Field Security Associate – IOM Qatar

Organizational Context
Responsible for providing specialized support to enable IOM’s activities and assist the Chief of Mission with all aspects of security risk management.

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS), host government agencies, and local authorities to obtain up-to-date security‑related information.
• Assist the Chief of Mission in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation in Qatar and perform verification of security information for analysis.
• Support the development and implementation of IOM Country Office‑specific security plans, contingency and emergency response plans, SOPs, and security inputs into the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
• Assist in the Duty Station’s Security Risk Management (SRM) and monitor the implementation of security measures in coordination with UNDSS.
• Conduct security evaluations and provide advice on Residential Security Measures (RSM) to IOM personnel and on emerging threats to staff safety.
• Manage the Country Office Warden system, maintain updated staff and call‑sign lists, and ensure operability of communications systems such as SCAAN; disseminate safety and security information in a timely manner.
• Report security incidents affecting personnel, premises, assets, and operations in Qatar; prepare security incident reports and weekly updates.
• Organize and conduct training courses on security awareness and preparedness; provide orientation and briefings to newly assigned personnel.
• Maintain an orderly filing system for confidential correspondence, security files, and a database of contact details for UNDSS and host‑country security authorities.
• Implement IOM Qatar security measures, verify access‑control procedures, and propose necessary improvements.
• Assist in investigations and incidents affecting personnel, premises, and assets.
• Maintain liaison with commercial security companies to facilitate the effective use of guard force.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education

• University degree in Security, Social Sciences, International Studies, Communications, or related field from an accredited institution with at least four years of relevant professional experience.
• High School diploma from an accredited institution with at least six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Experience in humanitarian, public, private or corporate security programmes, risk assessments, or analysis.
• Experience in operational security risk management, investigations, or physical security.
• Experience with radio communications.
• Successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course.

Skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with diverse professional backgrounds.

Fluency in English (oral and written) is required. All IOM staff must be fluent in at least one of the organization’s official languages (English, French, Spanish).
