Job Description
Overview:
The Smart Home Automation Technician installs, configures, and maintains integrated smart‑home systems—covering lighting, climate control, security, entertainment, networking, and low‑voltage infrastructure—to deliver seamless, intelligent living experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and integrate smart‑home systems (lighting, HVAC, security, A/V, door locks) using platforms such as TIS, KNX, Zigbee, Z‑Wave, Control4, Crestron, Lutron, Home Assistant, etc.
- Install and terminate low‑voltage cabling (Cat‑6, fiber, RG‑6), rack systems, hubs, and distribution boards.
- Set up and integrate CCTV/IP camera systems, DVR/NVR units, and monitoring platforms.
- Configure device programming, automate routines, test and validate system workflows, and debug issues.
- Conduct troubleshooting, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on smart systems and IoT devices.
- Provide customer training, technical support, and documentation for installed systems.
- Stay updated on emerging smart‑home technologies and propose upgrades or improvements.
Required
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma required;
Associate degree or certification in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, IT, or related field preferred. - Minimum 2 years hands‑on experience with smart‑home systems and low‑voltage infrastructure.
- Proficiency in structured cabling, rack setup, and device installation.
- Familiarity with home automation platforms/protocols (TIS, KNX, Zigbee, Z‑Wave, Control4, Crestron, Savant, Home Assistant).
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: IP addressing, DHCP, VLANs, Wi‑Fi.
- Proficient in programming device logic, GUIs, and YAML‑based automations.
- Good knowledge of CCTV setup, IP networking, and IP camera configuration.
- Excellent diagnostics, problem‑solving, and on‑site troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication skills for customer training and team collaboration.
- Valid driver's license and Qatar work permit preferred.
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have):
- Certifications:
TIS Partner, KNX Partner, Crestron, Control4, CEDIA, CompTIA Network+, CCNA, BICSI installer/technician. - Experience with HVAC integration, building management systems (BMS), and advanced energy solutions.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 or IIoT trends.
