About the RoleWe are seeking a Logistics Specialist to oversee and optimize the transportation and distribution of medicines to distributors. This role involves developing logistics routes, work in SAP TM and WMS, managing logistics tenders, and ensuring cost‑effective, GDP‑compliant pharmaceutical distribution. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, expertise in cold chain logistics, and experience in working with 3PL providers and regulatory bodies.
Key Responsibilities 1. Transportation Planning & Execution (SAP TM)- Create, manage, and optimize freight orders, freight units, and transportation proposals in SAP TM.
- Perform transportation planning, including carrier selection, routing, mode of transport, and scheduling.
- Monitor real‑time shipment statuses and updates via SAP TM tracking tools.
- Validate transportation charges and support freight settlement activities.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, warehouse teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth flow of logistics operations.
- Maintain accurate master data related to transportation lanes, carriers, and service levels.
- Manage and execute logistics tenders, carriers, and suppliers for cost‑effective and high‑quality distribution services.
- Coordinate end‑to‑end shipping activities: pick‑up, transport, customs clearance, and last‑mile delivery.
- Resolve logistics incidents (temperature excursions, delays, damages, deviations) using CAPA processes.
- Proactively communicate shipment statuses to stakeholders and elevate critical issues.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day activities with 3PL logistics partners including freight forwarders, carriers, and warehousing providers.
- Ensure 3PLs meet service levels for pickup, delivery, temperature maintenance, and documentation accuracy.
- Monitor and evaluate 3PL performance using KPIs (e.g., OTIF, transit time, temperature excursion rate, cost adherence).
- Conduct regular performance reviews with 3PLs and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop strong working relationships with 3PL providers to ensure reliability, transparency, and proactive issue resolution.
- Manage escalation processes and corrective actions with 3PL partners when deviations occur.
- Contribute to contract management: service scope definitions, rate reviews, and operational agreements.
- Gather and maintain all transportation documentation (commercial invoices, AWB/BL, packing lists, customs documents, insurance etc).
- Record shipment data accurately in SAP TM and related systems.
- Prepare logistics performance reports and dashboards for management review.
- SOP logistics preparation
- Ensure all transportation follows GDP, cold‑chain, and other pharmaceutical distribution regulations.
- Manage shipment documentation (CoA, MSDS, temperature records, regulatory papers).
- Handle temperature‑controlled shipments and validated packaging solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare logistics, including international shipments.
- Mandatory hands‑on experience with SAP Transportation Management (planning & execution).
- Strong working knowledge of SAP TM; familiarity with SAP MM/SD is a plus.
- Understanding of global transportation:
Incoterms, customs, IATA/ADR rules. - Knowledge of cold‑chain logistics and validated packaging technologies.
- Experience working directly with 3PL logistics providers.
- Proficiency in data analysis and MS Excel.
- Strong coordination, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
- Analytical and problem‑solving mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple parallel shipments and tasks.
- High accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience in biotech, clinical trials, or temperature‑controlled supply chains.
- GDP/GxP certifications.
- Experience with QMS (Deviations, CAPA, Change Control).
- Supply chain/logistics certifications (APICS, IATA DGR, GDP courses)
