org. Setting and reporting. This position is located in the un human rights training and documentation centre for south-west asia and the arab region (the centre), part of the office of high commissioner for human rights (ohchr), based in doha, qatar. The incumbent will work under the general supervision of the head of the centre, and the direct supervision of the administrative associate.
The incumbent will work in close collaboration with all staff in the centre, ohchr, other un staff, stakeholders and partners to ensure consistent service delivery.
- drives vehicles safely for the transport of authorised personnel.
- makes regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the un office and other offices and institutions (e.g., ministries, embassies, permanent missions).
- processes and handles protocol matters including requests of visas, residencies, renewal of vehicle licenses and similar processes through the relevant official institutions (e.g., ministries of foreign affairs, interior, and traffic department).
- makes minor purchases and collects urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested.
- collects goods and shipments from the customs, including customs clearance arrangements, preparation of documents and arrangements for shipment with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods.
- meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required.
- deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors.
- assists in the preparation of routine correspondence, faxes, and memoranda as needed in support of the operations and activities of the centre.
- takes care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; performs minor repairs and arranges for other repairs and ensures that the vehicle is kept clean.
- logs official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc.
- ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
- applies good judgment in the context of assignments given.
- assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making.
- assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.
- performs other duties as assigned.

work experiencea minimum of two (2) years of experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. The minimum number of years of relevant experience is reduced to none for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorised vehicles is required.
