Overview
The Vessel Supervisor is responsible for overseeing vessel operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant marine activities. The role involves coordinating with vessel crew, port authorities, and shore-based teams to ensure operational excellence, adherence to maritime regulations, and timely completion of assigned tasks.
Responsibilities- Supervise daily vessel operations, including navigation, cargo handling, and deck activities
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations (IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL) and company policies
- Monitor vessel safety standards and enforce safe working practices onboard
- Coordinate with captains, engineers, and crew for operational planning and execution
- Liaise with port authorities, clients, and offshore/onshore teams as required
- Oversee maintenance activities and ensure vessels are seaworthy at all times
- Conduct inspections, audits, and toolbox talks onboard vessels
- Monitor vessel schedules, fuel consumption, and operational performance
- Prepare operational reports, incident reports, and daily activity logs
- Support crew management, including discipline, performance monitoring, and training
- Respond to emergencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly
- Diploma / Technical Certificate in Marine, Mechanical, or related field (preferred)
- Minimum 3–7 years of experience in vessel or marine operations
- Prior experience as a Deck Foreman, Bosun, or Senior Deckhand preferred
- Valid STCW certification (Basic Safety, PPE, First Aid, Firefighting)
