As the business expands, we are pleased to announce an incredibly exciting opportunity to be part of Qatar Airways Cargo Operations Team in Doha as Lead Cargo Officer.

About the role

In this role, you are responsible for real-time monitoring of cargo profitability, optimization of cargo revenue, capacity utilization, and scheduling integrity across freighter operations within the IOC Cargo operational window.

The role acts as a central control and decision-support function, ensuring revenue protection, operational resilience, and service quality for critical and sensitive shipments across the QR Cargo network

Responsibilities
  • Identify trends in claims and shipment related to nonconformance to find appropriate measures to eliminate and/or minimize them through collaboration with line manager and other departments involved.
  • Monitor freighter flight profitability, load factors, and capacity utilization for all freighter flights within the IOC Cargo operational window.
  • Proactively recommend freighter and passenger aircraft upgrades, downgrades, delays, or cancellations based on predicted profitability, utilization and operational constraints.
  • Assess operational disruptions (AOG, weather, curfews, NOTAMs, crew or maintenance constraints) and recommend commercially viable recovery or mitigation plans.
  • Ensure aircraft defects with commercial cargo impact are promptly communicated to relevant stations, hub teams, and freighter operations.
  • Act as QR Cargo 24/7 shipment control focal point for all internal cargo stakeholders to address discrepancies and highlight critical shipments, ensuring compliance with agreed SOPs.
  • Coordinate closely with GHAs, Load Masters, Dispatch, QAS, and stations to optimize ground time, loading efficiency, and connection success.
  • Support recovery of disrupted, sensitive, and high-yield cargo (e.g. pharma, live animals, courier, diplomatic mail).
  • Develop and recommend robust operational and commercial recovery plans for irregular operations.
  • Produce and distribute daily cargo briefings and freighter flight updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for process improvement, system enhancements, and digital tool optimization.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 4 years job related experience
  • Reputable cargo forwarder experience, cargo customer service experience, cargo revenue management experience, cargo supply chain experience.
  • Experience in cargo operations, network control or high-pressure operational environments.
  • Involvement in Cargo iQ /Cargo 2000 performance and analysis.
  • Knowledge of cargo reservation and tracking system, overall cargo operations and set up, and cargo supply chain.
  • Understanding of key stakeholder functions including GHA’s, network stations, cargo operations, IOC, crew control, fuel OCC, flight dispatch, NAVATM, engineering and maintenance, load masters, network planning, charter operations, dangerous goods, cargo compliance, corporate safety and security, cargo sales, customer experience.
