This position is for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a small team, often the first point of contact for the hospital. The Switchboard/Reception desk provides a 24/7 service giving information and directing people politely and courteously.

• Operate the switchboard and provide face‑to‑face assistance to members of the public visiting the hospital.
• Monitor site security cameras, fire alarms and intruder alarms.
• Respond to callers, including crisis or emergency situations, and liaise with on‑call teams, security companies and the police.
• Cover shifts as required, including evenings, weekends and occasionally standard office hours (08:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday).

• GCSE in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Previous experience on a telephone switchboard and reception duties.
• Basic computer skills and working knowledge of MiVoice Switchboard software.
• CCTV formal training and knowledge of basic Health & Safety and Data Protection Act.

• Team player with good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a busy, occasionally stressful environment.
• Flexibility to cover shifts on short notice.
• Desire to undertake further training and career development.
