The Role

What you’ll be doing

As the Sales Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing and motivating the sales team, driving growth and profitability, and ensuring customer satisfaction. You will work closely with the dealership management team to develop and execute sales strategies while maintaining strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

You’ll be a natural problem solver who constantly seeks to improve the way we do things by utilising your motor trade experience, and by motivating and engaging with the team.

  • Champion Core Competencies, policies, and procedures in all duties and interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Responsible for the profit and loss of the Sales department, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cost control measures. Ensure financial goals are met and aligned with the strategic objectives.
  • Lead, manage, and train the automotive sales team, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to ensure individual and team success.
  • Set sales targets and goals for the team, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies, tactics, and promotional campaigns to increase vehicle sales and market share.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify new business opportunities and stay ahead of industry changes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring their needs are met and providing exceptional service throughout the sales process.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as finance, service, and marketing, to streamline processes and enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Manage the vehicle inventory, ensuring an adequate supply of vehicles to meet customer demands and maximise sales opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with automotive manufacturers and suppliers to negotiate favourable terms, pricing, and promotional support.
  • Monitor and analyse sales data, including market share, sales performance, and customer feedback, to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate measures.
  • Ensure compliance with dealership policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Stay updated on automotive industry trends, new vehicle models, features, and technologies through continuous learning and training.
  • Create a high-performing team by inspiring and motivating, providing recognition and constructive feedback, and engaging in people processes such as onboarding, appraisals, one-to-ones, and other performance procedures.
  • Accurately record team logins, holidays, and other absences on Chronicle.
  • Ensure all mandatory and brand training is completed within specified time frames.
  • Establish and build positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Undertake all identified training and development set by the Company.
