The Role
Our client is a well-established, privately owned construction business with over 50 years of success and a strong pipeline of work across multiple sectors. Due to continued growth within their Construction Division, they are looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to support pre-construction and tendering activities.
This role plays a key part in the successful delivery of projects, requiring strong commercial awareness, a methodical approach to pricing, and the ability to work accurately under pressure. It would suit an Estimator looking to develop their career within a secure and growing business.
Responsibilities- Appraise tender opportunities for scope, accuracy, and completeness
- Develop measurement and pricing strategies aligned with tender requirements
- Attend opportunity launch, mid-tender, settlement, and handover meetings
- Undertake site visits with the pre-construction team
- Prepare and manage supply chain enquiry schedules in conjunction with commercial and construction teams
- Maintain pre-enquiry communication with key supply chain partners
- Issue supply chain enquiries using Con Quest Estimating software
- Carry out internal take-offs and measurements using Bluebeam / On-Screen software
- Produce internal Bills of Quantities using Con Quest Estimating software
- Coordinate pricing based on design information and assess alternative solutions
- Undertake fixed price analysis and prepare pricing comparisons for settlement meetings
- Support Contractor Proposals and PQQ submissions where required
- Minimum of 5 years' experience working as an Estimator within the construction industry
- Strong understanding of estimating procedures and standard construction methodologies and good commercial awareness and financial understanding
- Experience across a range of sectors, ideally including care homes, schools, industrial/logistics, and refurbishment projects
- Ability to manage own tenders from initial enquiry through to submission
- Collaborative approach with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- A construction-related degree is desirable but not essential.
