Job Summary

BPAS are looking for a Surgeon to perform terminations of pregnancy in our Doncaster Clinic. This role operates Monday to Thursday and includes the option to provide services in other areas nationally if able. Candidates should currently operate between 13+6 and 24 weeks, or be willing to train to work safely and competently at higher gestations within the legal limit.

As a treatment doctor/surgeon you will provide safe, effective, and comprehensive surgical and medical terminations of pregnancy to BPAS clients.

We are the leading specialists in abortion advice and treatment in the UK, caring for almost 80,000 women each year across more than 50 clinics nationwide. Most of our care is funded by the NHS.

With a Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, full General Medical Council registration, and a license to practice, you will be passionate and committed to reproductive healthcare. You will ensure all BPAS clients are treated professionally and support a woman's right to choose abortion. You are a good communicator and enjoy building strong working relationships across the business.

• Carry out termination of pregnancy by the appropriate method, ensuring complete evacuation, in accordance with BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
• Complete client consultation and statutory documentation when required.
• Assess and advise on the management of clients with medical or other conditions that may affect the abortion process.
• Be present in the operating theatre throughout each procedure and remain on site until all clients are fit for discharge or passed to the care of another on‑site doctor.
• Provide support, advice, and guidance to nursing staff in managing unexpected outcomes.

• Bachelor of Medicine or equivalent, with full General Medical Council registration and licence to practice – please state GMC Pin.

• Experience of independent practice for any abortion procedures/gestations relevant to the post.
• Knowledge of termination of pregnancy procedures and the assessment and management of complications.
• Experience of IUD/Implant insertion and knowledge of sexual health issues.
• Willingness to travel to other locations within the region and/or work flexibly.
• Ability to commit to 30 hours per week over Monday to Thursday at our Doncaster unit.
• Specify the gestation you are currently working up to and your willingness to train to higher gestations.
• Support a woman’s right to choose abortion.

Location: BPAS Doncaster – Danum Lodge Clinic, 123 Thorne Rd, Doncaster, DN2 5BQ

Hours: 30 per week (4 x 7.5 hour shifts over Monday to Thursday)

Contract: Permanent Part‑time

Salary: £103,020 – £154,020 per annum (pro rata for part‑time hours) depending on gestational skills & experience.
