Teaching Assistant - Specialist Provision

Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs to achieve their full potential? We are seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to join a specialist secondary provision in Doncaster. This setting supports pupils aged 11-17 who have experienced significant challenges in mainstream education, including social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, as well as those requiring more specialist interventions.

About the School

The provision offers a therapeutic, nurturing environment designed to re‑engage pupils in learning and build their confidence for future pathways. It supports students who have faced‑or are at risk of‑exclusion and provides targeted interventions beyond what mainstream schools can offer.

The most recent full Ofsted inspection, conducted in March 2024, awarded the school a Good rating, reflecting significant improvement and the strong impact of its supportive educational approach.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Contribute to a calm, structured and trauma-informed learning environment.
  • Assist in delivering tailored learning activities that promote academic engagement and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals.
What We're Looking For Essential:
  • Relevant experience working with young people with additional or complex needs - this may include school settings, youth work or residential care.
  • A patient, calm and resilient attitude with a commitment to supporting vulnerable learners.
Desirable:
  • Training such as Team Teach, behaviour de‑escalation or trauma-informed practice.
  • Experience with in specialist or alternative provision.
