SEND Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and nurturing primary school in Wakefield, starting April 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract. You will be supporting Year 2, providing a mix of whole‑class support, 1:1 behaviour support, and small‑group intervention work. The school is well‑known for its warm, inclusive ethos and strong commitment to helping every child thrive.

Interviews will be held w/c 8th December – early applications are strongly encouraged.

• Provide whole-class learning support across Year 2.
• Deliver 1:1 behaviour support to identified pupils.
• Lead and assist with targeted intervention groups.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Support the school’s inclusive values and create a positive learning environment.

• Relevant teaching assistant qualifications (or equivalent).
• Proven experience of supporting children in a primary school setting.
• Strong knowledge of KS1 curriculum and effective behaviour‑support strategies.
• Two education or school-based references.
• A valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
