Graduate Teaching Assistant – Secondary School (Core Subjects Welcome) – Doncaster
Are you a recent graduate looking to gain valuable classroom experience before pursuing a career in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, or another education-related field?
Milk Education is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Graduate Teaching Assistant to support students within a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Doncaster. This long‑term opportunity is available from September and is ideal for graduates who are passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s educational journeys.
We welcome applications from graduates across a range of academic backgrounds, particularly core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, and related disciplines.
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and the SEND department to support students both academically and personally, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide classroom support across a range of curriculum subjects
- Deliver targeted one-to-one and small‑group interventions
- Assist teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons
- Support students with SEND and additional learning requirements
- Encourage positive behaviour and active participation in learning
- Help students develop confidence, resilience, and independence
- Monitor student engagement and progress, providing feedback where appropriate
- Build positive and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers
- Contribute to students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Holds a degree in a relevant subject area
- Has experience working with children or young people (preferred but not essential)
- Demonstrates a genuine interest in education and supporting student achievement
- Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Is considering a future career within teaching or education
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting student wellbeing
- Has experience supporting students with additional needs (desirable)
