Attendance Lead & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

We are looking for a passionate and driven Attendance Lead & Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join our team at Waterside School. This is a key role focused on improving pupil attendance while supporting safeguarding and child protection across the school. You’ll work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure every young person feels safe, supported, and able to thrive.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading on attendance strategy
    , monitoring trends, and tackling persistent absence
  • Supporting the DSL and managing safeguarding concerns when required
  • Working collaboratively with staff, pupils, families, and external partners
  • Promoting a strong culture of safeguarding, attendance, and wellbeing across the school
  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements

  • Has experience in attendance, safeguarding, or child protection within a school or education setting
  • Understands safeguarding guidance and trauma-informed practice
  • Can confidently lead, influence, and support others
  • Builds strong relationships with pupils, families, and professionals
  • Is resilient, empathetic, and committed to protecting vulnerable young people
  • Be part of a supportive and forward-thinking team
