Pay: Dependent on experience, paid weekly via PAYE (no umbrella deductions)

We're working with a specialist school in Doncaster seeking a dedicated and passionate Teacher of the Deaf to join their team.

You'll play a crucial role in breaking down communication barriers, adapting learning to individual needs, and helping pupils develop the confidence and independence to succeed.

Every day is different, but you'll be:

• Teaching and supporting deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils across a range of subjects and year groups
• Adapting lessons and resources to ensure full access to learning
• Working with pupils who use British Sign Language (BSL), spoken language, hearing technology, or a combination of communication methods
• Collaborating with Teaching Assistants, Speech and Language Therapists, Audiologists, and families to support pupil progress
• Monitoring academic, social, and emotional development
• Helping pupils build confidence, independence, self‑advocacy skills, and a love of learning

The right teacher will bring expertise, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for inclusive education.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Mandatory Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People (Teacher of the Deaf Qualification/Mandatory Qualification - MQ)
• Experience teaching deaf or hearing‑impaired children and young people
• Knowledge of hearing technology, communication strategies, and inclusive classroom practices
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• A patient, flexible, and child‑centred approach
• BSL skills are highly desirable but not essential

• British Sign Language (BSL) Level 1, 2, 3 or higher
• Experience with in specialist deaf provisions, resource bases, or specialist schools
• Experience supporting pupils with additional SEND needs
• Understanding of assistive listening devices, radio aids, cochlear implants, and hearing aids
• Experience working alongside multidisciplinary teams
