This Teaching Assistant post for Year 5 sits at Hexthorpe Primary Academy, part of Astrea Academy Trust. The role centres on supporting the class teacher and leading small-group and individual work, including interventions in phonics, reading and early maths. It is a permanent, term-time post of 30 hours a week, with duties that also cover playtimes, behaviour and wider school life.
Visa sponsorship is not available, and the post requires an enhanced DBS check.
- Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences
- Work with small groups and individual pupils to boost progress and engagement
- Lead small group interventions for phonics, reading and early maths
- Support children to have a positive, active playtime and dinnertime
- Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities and pastoral care
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and families
- Enhanced DBS check
- Satisfactory background checks, including references
- Caring and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for supporting children
