Role Overview

Signalling & Telecoms (S&T) provide cost‑effective engineering solutions for railway signalling projects across the UK. As a team we manage the full project life cycle, completing all aspects of design, project engineering, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance support. We also supply, install and test services for operational and lineside telecommunication renewals, and for station information and security systems. An opportunity has arisen for a Telecoms Installation Supervisor to join our expanding Telecoms engineering team.

The successful candidate will work on a long‑term high‑profile programme based in Yorkshire, with the possibility of working across offices in Doncaster, York and Birmingham and the flexibility for remote and site work.

Responsibilities

As Telecoms Installation Supervisor you will be responsible for site‑based engineering works, ensuring interfaces between the different railway disciplines and within Volker Rail are coordinated to achieve design and delivery targets to time and budget. You will provide engineering support to drive the development and delivery of major multi‑discipline schemes through the GRIP stages, from pre‑contract tender input and design through to handover to the client.

You will assist in managing resources and team effectively to deliver against agreed plans and budgets, ensuring engineering excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge of Telecoms Railway Systems (Ops / SISS)
  • Experience of supervisory / lead site roles in a telecoms/multi‑disciplinary rail project environment
  • Production of site documentation, including risk assessments, methodologies, permits and disconnections
  • Undertaking safety and quality inspections and audits of internal and subcontractors
  • Experience at team working / collaborating
  • Confident and effective communication skills, both in writing and in internal and external correspondence
  • Competent user of Microsoft packages and other engineering software
  • PTS / COSS licence and full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility for weekend working and travel
