Engineering Manager

Overview

Dutton Recruitment (Sheffield Engineering) are currently recruiting for an Engineering Manager on a permanent basis in Doncaster. Immediate start available (subject to interview process). Salary: £50,000 to £80,000 per annum (depending on experience).

Working hours:

Monday to Thursday 8:00–17:00 and Friday 8:00–16:30.

• Lead, manage and develop the Engineering Department, ensuring resources, capabilities and workloads are planned to support business objectives and project delivery.
• Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development through effective leadership, coaching and performance management.
• Oversee the delivery of engineering activities to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on time, within budget and in accordance with customer and business requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and governance across the engineering function, including review and approval of designs, technical documentation, engineering standards and change control processes.
• Act as the primary engineering interface with Production, Projects, Service, Quality, Procurement and Sales teams, ensuring effective communication and resolution of technical challenges.
• Standardise machine drawings and practices; lead new product development, product improvement, innovation, efficiency and business growth.
• Drive process improvements, capacity planning and efficiency initiatives in collaboration with internal stakeholders to improve workflow and output.
• Monitor engineering performance, capacity, risks and resource requirements; support budgeting and investment planning; optimise utilisation of engineering resources.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements while promoting engineering best practice.
• Represent the Engineering function in project reviews, technical meetings and customer interactions; deputise for the Engineering Director when required and undertake related duties aligned with the role.

• Proven experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Degree, HNC or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or related Engineering discipline.
• Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, standards and best practices, with the ability to review and approve engineering designs and technical documentation.
• Experience managing engineering resources, priorities and workloads.
• Experience working in a project-based manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in engineering software and CAD systems such as Solid Works, AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of engineering change control and document management processes.
• Experience in machinery design and manufacture.
• Experience implementing engineering process improvements.
