Controls Engineer - Doncaster
Compensation: up to £19.50p/hr, overtime and expenses.
OverviewOur client is an engineering business that supplies machinery and equipment to customers across the UK and internationally. This role is critical to the growth of their electrical automation function, developing and delivering PLC‑based control systems. We are looking for an experienced controls engineer or an electrical engineer interested in moving into controls engineering.
The roleThis hands‑on position is based in house at Doncaster with regular travel to customers' sites, mainly in the UK and occasionally overseas. Responsibilities include inverter configuration and commissioning (Yaskawa, Omron, Allen‑Bradley), electrical installation and commissioning, modification of electrical diagrams using CAD software, fault‑finding and customer support during breakdowns, and provision of support to the electrical and commissioning departments through efficient administration, regulatory compliance and technical documentation management.
RequirementsApplicants must hold a recognised electrical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent) and have proven experience in an electrical service, installation or maintenance role. Experience working with machinery, control panels or automation systems and the ability to fault‑find industrial or commercial electrical systems is required. Experience with the 18th Edition and commissioning work is desirable.
Benefits- Salary up to £42,588k (19.50p/hr), dependent on experience, skills and abilities.
- Overtime paid at 1.5× for hours over 42 per week and 2× on Sundays.
- All expenses paid.
- Working hours:
Monday to Thursday – 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.;
Friday – 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Holidays: up to 34 days over five years (20 days plus birthday, bank holidays and an additional day for every 12 months of service, up to a maximum of 25 days).
