Overview
We are offering a one year undergraduate student placement opportunity starting on 1 September 2026, for someone who is passionate about housing and communities and who would like to gain experience of working within an organisation dedicated to service excellence and improving peoples lives.
You will rotate through the various teams and work across a diverse range of services and from different locations delivering front line services to customers and liaising with partners. The placement will provide a rotational experience across several key areas, including our Homelessness service (Home options), Home Choice, Housing Management and Safeguarding & Anti-Social Behaviour. It will provide you with a broad and extensive understanding of housing services and processes, tenancy management, community safety, and safeguarding.
Responsibilities- Rotate through the Housing Services teams and deliver front line services to customers and liaise with partner organisations.
- Gain experience across key areas including Homelessness (Home Options), Home Choice, Housing Management and Safeguarding & Anti-Social Behaviour.
- Engage with customers and stakeholders to support housing services and processes, tenancy management, and safeguarding.
- Studying a relevant degree course which includes knowledge in housing, or a related function, with knowledge of legislation related to homelessness and housing allocations.
- Experience of carrying out research and presenting findings verbally or in writing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with customers and partner organisations.
- Paid, fixed-term contract up to 31st August 2027
- Salary of £24,244 per annum
- One on One and team mentorship/support
- On the job training
- 27 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays FTE
- A base within Doncaster borough with the opportunity to work flexibly and a balance between working onsite and from home
Location: Civic Office, Shaw Lane Office, Doncaster.
Hours/Type: 37 hours per week;
Fixed 12 months starting 1st September 2026.
Salary: £24,244 per annum with many other benefits including 27 days holiday (plus statutory bank holidays).
