Therapy Assistant Practitioner

We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our established Integrated Discharge Team working at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. As part of our team you will play a vital role in providing high quality patient care whilst delivering the Trust's goals of reducing length of stay, improving admission avoidance and reducing avoidable readmissions.
Main duties of the job- To provide therapy assessment and treatment of patients under the guidance of a qualified Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist
- To be responsible for the delivery of care within agreed guidelines and protocols
- To provide support for the overall Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy service needs
- To be the first point of contact for assessment from the Therapy Services when determined by the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist
- To manage own caseload including ward management using comprehensive risk assessment/management under the guidance of a qualified Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist
- To carry out community visits including home visits and access visits
- To undertake specific clinical responsibilities or projects supporting the overall delivery of Therapy services.
- To participate in a 7 Day Service working roster
- Broad experience of working as a Band 3 Occupational Therapy /Physiotherapy Assistant
- Recent experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, with an understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the members of the team
- Experience of carrying out a range of assessments independently
- Experience of assisting in ward management/organisation
- Experience of working in acute/ community settings
- Good communication and listening skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and use own initiative
- Ability to present information, written and orally, in a clear, accurate and logical manner
- Ability to empower others
- Ability to work within a team
- Ability to form good working relationships
- Ability to use own initiative
- Ability to take direction from others
- An understanding of the needs of people with disabilities and their carers
- Ability to initiate and sustain a purposeful professional relationship
- Ability to co-ordinate activity of other assistants including cover for wards.
- NVQ level 3 in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Support (or Care with relevant Physiotherapy Units)/Allied Health Professionals (Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy) or relevant health and social care qualification or equivalent or equivalent experience
- Portfolio evidence of relevant experience/ Continuing Professional Development in specialist fields
- Training courses relevant to post
