Community Midwifery Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic, highly motivated senior Community Midwife who possesses excellent management, communication and organisational skills. You will need to be able to manage, lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team whilst demonstrating high levels of professionalism at all times, acting as an exemplary role model with enhanced levels of clinical care.

You will be innovative, enthusiastic, and committed to support change in a complex environment in order to provide care for women and their families.

This is a senior midwifery role within the organisation and you will expected to work cross site as required.

Main duties of the job

Ensure the delivery of high standards of midwifery practice and the quality of care delivered by community midwives and midwifery support workers within the Children and Families Care Group during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. Provide professional leadership and support delivery of high quality family centred care, and drive vision and creativity in developing midwifery practice within the Care Group to support the wider transformation agenda.

Participate in the Maternity Manager of the Day rota, providing support and advice to clinical staff and patients and maintain safe service provision. This is a 7-day service (excluding bank holidays) onsite across both units between 8am and 4pm.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training
  • Current NMC registration at degree level as a midwife
  • Commitment to professional development and evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Willingness to complete band 7 manager development programme
  • Teaching and mentorship qualification or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Registered PMA
  • NIPE trained
Knowledge and Experience
  • At least 3 years midwifery experience at band 6 midwife or above
  • Experience working as a community midwife
  • Experience of taking charge or managing a caseload
  • Knowledge of current reports/guidelines relating to Maternity Care and their implication
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and risk assessment
  • Experience of the Datix/reporting systems
  • Competent in the use of K2MS
  • Must be proficient in all competencies including suturing
  • Previous management experience of service development, leading and managing change
  • Experience of audit/guideline and policy development and implementation
  • Experience in dealing with complaints and implementing lessons learned in the clinical setting
Personal Attributes & Skills
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
