We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the Substance Misuse team at HMP Lindholme, a Category C male adult prison based in Doncaster, with operational capacity of around 900.

This is a crucial role within the healthcare team, making a real difference to patients, and delivering outstanding care. This role offers excellent developmental opportunities and is a great environment to build on your experience and gain new skills!

This role sits within our Substance Misuse team, which has around 300 patients, and no 2 days are ever the same!

Hours

This position is a part time role, working 17.5 hours per week. Ideally, shifts will be Monday and Friday, although we can be flexible on this.

Shifts are Monday - Friday between 8am and 4pm usually.

Salary

This position is part time, you’ll receive an annual salary of up to £29,723 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:

  • Deliver exceptional care to patients, both in the healthcare department and on the wings
  • Facilitate clinics and patient screening, including venepuncture / bloods, observations (obs), ECGs, NHS Health checks etc
  • Carry out urine drug screening
  • Have meaningful patient contact, such as facilitate educational groups on drug awareness and other areas
  • Be involved in the implementation of clinical care packages
  • Support the substance misuse nursing team with all aspects of care
  • Act as a second checker in pharmacy as required
  • Support receptions (new patients entering the prison) and assist with triaging new patients

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
  • Venepuncture training and experience is essential
  • Ideally hold an NVQ Level 2 or 3 qualification in Health & Social Care, or Care Certificate
  • Have experience in a clinical care setting previously - ideally from a hospital or prison setting
  • Have clinical experience - observations, ECGs etc
  • Have a non-judgemental and compassionate approach
