We have an exciting opportunity for a Liaison & Diversion Practitioner to join our team in South Yorkshire. As a Liaison & Diversion Practitioner you will work autonomously in police detention cells, in order to identify and respond to requests of screening and assessment of people with identified health needs in contact with the criminal justice system.

Location

This role is based predominantly at Shepcote Lane Custody Suite with some travel required across the South Yorkshire region. A driving licence and own transport will be required.

Hours

Shifts covering Monday to Sunday.

Salary

This position is full time, working 37.5 hours per week and you will receive a salary of £43,609 to £49,175 per annum.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner, your responsibilities will vary. You will: be part of an extended team working across Liaison & Diversion service work autonomously in court and police detention cells in order to identify and respond to requests of screening and assessment of people with identified health needs in contact with the criminal justice system; use validated tools to assess for a number of identified health needs and utilise information accordingly to inform decision-making and facilitate diversion within and out of the criminal justice pathway, creating a clear individualised care plan.

Qualifications,

Skills and Experience Required
  • Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with current registration with the relevant professional body
  • Substantial evidence of continuing professional development and post registration training
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions and awareness of substance misuse
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent
  • Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines and pharmacology
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to community mental health provision and forensic psychiatry
