An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Peri-operative Assistant to join our Theatre Team at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.
As a Peri-operative Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within the operating theatre and recovery environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assist with patient movement, maintain a clean and safe clinical environment, distribute sterile instruments and equipment, and undertake a range of delegated duties to support the smooth and efficient running of theatre services.

Main duties of the job- Assist with patient care, ensuring dignity, comfort and safety at all times
- Support patients undergoing spinal, epidural and regional anaesthesia
- Assist with patient care and safe transfers in the recovery area following surgery
- Move and transfer patients safely in line with Trust moving and handling procedures
- Support patient safeguarding in accordance with Trust policies
- Prepare theatre areas, trolleys and equipment for use
- Assist with the receipt, storage and distribution of sterile instruments and supplies
- Maintain stock levels and ensure appropriate rotation of items
- Support cleanliness of theatre, recovery and storage areas
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times
- Transport patients between wards and theatre areas safely and efficiently
- Assist with removal of waste and linen and maintain general departmental tidiness
- Support transfer of equipment between departments when required
- Collect and deliver items such as blood products in line with Trust procedures
- Communicate effectively with all members of the multidisciplinary team
- Work in line with Trust policies, procedures and health & safety requirements
- Attend mandatory training, study days and complete required updates
- Maintain confidentiality and contribute to a positive patient experience
