This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. We have an exciting opportunity for a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner to join our team in South Yorkshire.
Location This role is based predominantly at Shepcote Lane Custody Suite with some travel required across South Yorkshire. A driving licence and your own transport will be required.
Hours Shifts covering Monday to Sunday.
Salary Full time, 37.5 hours per week, salary £43,609 to £49,175 per annum.
Main duties of the job- Be part of an extended team working across the Liaison & Diversion service.
- Work autonomously in court and police detention cells to identify and respond to requests for screening and assessment of people with identified health needs in contact with the criminal justice system.
- Use validated tools to assess for a number of identified health needs and utilize information to inform decision‑making and facilitate diversion within and out of the criminal justice pathway, creating clear individualised care plans.

Qualifications, skills and experience required- Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with current registration with the relevant professional body.
- Substantial evidence of continuing professional development and post‑registration training.
- Experience of psychosocial interventions and awareness of substance misuse.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent.
- Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF, EBP and national standards.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practice, health promotion, NICE guidelines and pharmacology.
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to community mental health provision and forensic psychiatry.
