Join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy team to work with acute inpatients and outpatients and develop specialist skills in managing patients with dysphonia and more complex dysphagia presentations, including head and neck cancer. You will be part of a supportive and dedicated team. We provide specialist clinics, including Joint Voice Disorders, Hoarse Voice Assessment, SLT-led nasendoscopy, FEES, and videofluoroscopy. The post holder will work as part of the inpatient Speech and Language Therapy team, providing assessment and management of adults with communication and swallowing disorders across a range of acute specialties—Acute Medical Unit, Critical Care, Frailty, Dementia, ENT, Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and Respiratory. The role also includes managing an outpatient caseload, with opportunities to develop specialist skills in voice disorders, dysphagia and head and neck cancer, including working as part of the wider multidisciplinary head and neck service.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and support the delivery of responsive, patient-centred services. The successful candidate will play an active role in education and training by providing teaching to the wider multidisciplinary team, supporting Speech and Language Therapy students and assistant practitioners, and contributing to the clinical development of the wider SLT service through audit, supervision and ongoing professional development.
