ResponsibilitiesThe main responsibilities of the post-holder will be to assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare in a courteous, efficient, and effective way.
Ensure an effective and efficient reception/administration service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
Provide care navigation/signposting of patients to relevant services and health care professionals.
Receive and make telephone calls as required.
Liaise with other clinical staff including district nurses, health visitors, etc.
To work in accordance with practice protocols.
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow up appointments.
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are followed.
Enter requests for appointments, tasks, general queries into clinical systems, ensuring to carefully record all relevant details and referring to doctor where necessary.
Ensure efficient running of appointment system and monitor flow of patients into treatment/consulting rooms.
Administrative tasks e.g. processing prescriptions, registering and deducting patients; processing medical forms, referrals to other health and social care service providers.
Qualifications- GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths or equivalent
- Good IT knowledge and skills.
- Current or recent experience of working in a patient-facing role, e.g., health/social care or pharmacy.
- Excellent listening, written and interpersonal skills with both staff, patients and other healthcare professionals.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new processes and systems.
- Thrives in a fast-paced working environment.
- Responsive and strong work ethic.
- Current or recent experience of working as a receptionist or administrator in General Practice, NHS, Social Care or similar environment preferred.
- Experience of using Systm One clinical software.
- Highly responsive and able to adapt to what is required.
