We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team at HMP Hatfield, a Category D Prison located in Hatfield Woodhouse, Yorkshire.
HMP Hatfield is a prison and young offender institution near Doncaster for men aged 18 and over. It is split into two sites, Hatfield Main and Hatfield Lakes.
Hours- Monday – Friday
- 37.5 hours per week
- 7.30 am to 5 pm shifts
This position is full‑time. You’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 and £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will include:
- Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
- Delivering a range of treatment options, including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and one‑to‑one settings, with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
- Carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing individual recovery plans, and confidently communicating the full range of treatment options available to service users
- Monitoring therapeutic responses to medication, potential side effects, and liaising with prescribers; providing advice and information to individuals on a one‑to‑one basis
- Supporting group work delivery and liaising with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasionally supporting dispensing
- Demonstrating an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person‑centred approach

- Registered nurse with current NMC Adult / Mental Health
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
- RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
- Experience working with opiate‑dependent patients
- Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
- A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
