We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join our team at HMP Hatfield, a Category D Prison located in Hatfield Woodhouse, Yorkshire.

HMP Hatfield is a prison and young offender institution near Doncaster for men aged 18 and over. It is split into two sites, Hatfield Main and Hatfield Lakes.

  • Monday – Friday
  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 7.30 am to 5 pm shifts

This position is full‑time. You’ll receive an annual salary between £43,609 and £49,175 per annum depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks. Main duties of the job

As a Senior Substance Misuse Nurse, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning
  • Delivering a range of treatment options, including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both group and one‑to‑one settings, with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model
  • Carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing individual recovery plans, and confidently communicating the full range of treatment options available to service users
  • Monitoring therapeutic responses to medication, potential side effects, and liaising with prescribers; providing advice and information to individuals on a one‑to‑one basis
  • Supporting group work delivery and liaising with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions; occasionally supporting dispensing
  • Demonstrating an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person‑centred approach

  • Registered nurse with current NMC Adult / Mental Health
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake
  • Experience working with opiate‑dependent patients
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
  • A non‑judgemental and compassionate approach

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment.
