The Estates Department is seeking a suitably experienced and enthusiastic Maintenance Assistant.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake a full range of routine maintenance work, minor building repair work, specialist cleaning and gardening / winter duties.
Based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary the position will involve work at the Trust's other Hospitals and properties. Some of this work will be attended out of hours, therefore, a full driving licence along with access to a vehicle will be required.
Applicants must have relevant building or engineering qualification certification along with a minimum of two years continuous trade experience.
You will be expected to demonstrate a full range of skills related to the key work elements of the post together with a flexible, committed and conscientious approach to working.
Main duties of the jobTo assist in the planned and reactive maintenance program throughout the Trust with regards to estates horticulture, grounds & gardens. To undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and caretaking duties in a Hospital environment, both Building and Engineering functions.

PersonSpecification Qualifications & Training
- Evidence of skills, knowledge and abilities
- Demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety
- Evidence of basic education
- Full-drivers Licence
- NVQ Level 2 Engineering / Building
- Completed an apprenticeship in gardening/ grounds keeping / horticulture
- Experience & knowledge of building services, maintenance, caretaking or professional horticultural background or other similar job role for at least 1 year
- Ability to communicate with colleagues
- Effective interpretation of instructions
- Ability to work within a team
- Effective interpretation of instructions
- Ability to address problems within expected skill level
- Ability to undertake unsupervised routine maintenance / minor repair work
