We are seeking an exceptional Business Manager to join one of South Yorkshire's most established, high-performing and forward-thinking GP practices.
The practice provides care for approximately 12,000 patients from a modern, purpose-built health centre and has been CQC rated Outstanding since 2016 reflecting long-term clinical quality, organisational stability, and strong leadership.
You will be a core member of the practice leadership team, working directly with the GP partners to ensure the organisation remains resilient, well-run, and future-focused.
While experience in primary care or healthcare is welcome, it is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong operational or people-management backgrounds from complex, service-driven organisations.
We are recognised regionally for being technologically progressive and willing to lead change rather than react to it.
This is a senior operational leadership role suited to a confident, capable business leader who enjoys complexity, responsibility and the opportunity to shape how an organisation works.
Main duties of the jobKey responsibilities:
- Senior operational leadership across the practice
- Oversight of quality of primary care delivery of patient care
- Line management and development of a large multidisciplinary workforce
- Oversight of HR systems, policies, performance and staff wellbeing
- Financial management, budgeting and forecasting
- Supporting strategic planning and organisational development
- Driving service improvement, efficiency and modern ways of working
- Helping maintain the practice's reputation as a regional leader in innovation and technology
You will work within an experienced management structure and with a team of experienced partners who value professional leadership and clear operational governance.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is an experienced and credible people manager
- Brings structure, clarity and consistency to complex systems
- Is confident working with senior professionals
- Has strong organisational and financial awareness
- Thinks strategically but delivers pragmatically
- Is calm, resilient and solutions-focused
- Is motivated by meaningful work as well as performance
- Long-standing Outstanding CQC rating (since 2016)
- Stable partnership with strong engagement in leadership
- Large multi-disciplinary team and supportive culture
- Strong educational tradition with medical students, nursing students, and doctors in training
- Genuine autonomy to shape how the organisation operates
- An environment open to innovation, ideas, and modern management
- The opportunity to play a key role in the future direction of general practice
This is a rare opportunity to join a well-established, high-functioning practice at a senior level and to help guide it through the next phase of change in primary care.
Informal conversations are very welcome.
