To proactively assist the Head of Capital Infrastructure in providing a customer-focused, comprehensive Capital Project Service to fulfil the Trust's Capital Programme, and to support the Director of Infrastructure and the Head of Capital Infrastructure in developing and delivering strategic plans for the Trust's short- and medium-term objectives.

The role provides professional advice on factors affecting the Trust’s ability to meet clinical needs through capital developments, ensuring time, cost and quality standards are met. Work with the wider estates team to ensure projects are delivered in compliance with legislation, HTMs, HBNs, etc., utilising specialist advice (AP/AEs) and design consultants.

• Manage and deliver a high-quality, cost-effective Project Management service, applying technical and managerial expertise to achieve outcomes.
• Proactively lead and coordinate projects in line with the Trust’s aims, ethos, values, and business plan; ensure efficient and economical use of annual Capital expenditure in accordance with financial frameworks and guidelines, maintaining compliance with legislative and NHS guidance.
• Support the strategic aims of the Trust in delivering minor and major capital programmes, including site rationalisation, environmental improvement, ward upgrades, statutory compliance, and backlog maintenance reduction.
• Be part of the Estates Department Capital Projects Unit (CPU), a multidisciplinary team of project managers; provide a project management service for a range of delegated schemes across the Trust, from inception and procurement through to completion and commissioning.

• Significant experience in estates and capital planning/project management within a healthcare environment
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in managing capital projects
• Experience in managing construction and engineering projects (general building construction, site management, project management procedures)
• Understanding of construction procurement processes and frameworks
• Knowledge of standard form contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.)
• Construction-related health and safety management
• MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Contract law and building legislation/regulations
• Full UK driving licence or equivalent
• Knowledge of NHS operational and financial processes, including SFI and MiCAD
• Knowledge of HTMs/HBNs
• Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team

• HNC/HND (electrical/mechanical/building-related)
• Evidence of CPD
• Degree-level education (Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services related)
• Professional registration in an engineering discipline
• AutoCAD
• Relevant CSCS card and/or NEBOSH certificate
