About Monocon International Refractories

Monocon is a global leader in the metallurgical industry, providing high-performance refractory solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically minded R&D Technician to join our team in Doncaster. This role is pivotal in supporting the development of next-generation monolithic refractories and ensuring the highest standards of quality for our global client base.

The Role

The successful candidate will provide essential technical and analytical support for the development of monolithic refractories, including castables, dry vibratables, ramming, and gunning mixes. Working under the guidance of the R&D Manager, you will be at the heart of our innovation process, from raw material analysis to final product troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Development:
    Assist in the creation and modification of refractory products by conducting laboratory studies and identifying performance improvements.
  • Analytical Testing:
    Perform routine raw material analysis and rigorous Quality Control (QC) testing to ensure product consistency.
  • Process Evaluation:
    Conduct studies to evaluate changes in raw materials, construction materials, and process control parameters.
  • Instrument Management:
    Qualify and manage laboratory instrumentation and maintain precise testing methods.
  • Operational Support:
    Assist the manufacturing plant in troubleshooting quality issues related to refractory products.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    Maintain a safe, productive, and environmentally sound laboratory environment, strictly adhering to all plant safety rules and SOPs.
Requirements
  • Education/

    Experience:

    An Associate degree or equivalent experience within a refractory, ceramics, cement, or concrete laboratory environment.
  • Technical Aptitude:
    Familiarity with high-temperature materials and testing protocols is highly desirable.
  • Right to Work:
    Must have a valid, long-term work permit for the UK. (
